Google Reinvents the Operating System

New OS is specifically geared towards the netbook market Google finally aired its long awaited Chrome Operating System and also along with this they opened source code which was posted online right before the start of the demonstration. Google's Chrome OS is indeed built entirely around the browser. For this reason, it naturally uses HTML 5 to provide it with rich graphical content and other advanced programming contents. This OS is built for netbooks and tablets and is based on three principles "Speed", "Simplicity", and "Security". Under this new OS, data has been stored as read-only and is only able to access by a small list of trusted applications which are verified.

Google will launch Chrome OS netbooks in the holiday season 2010 tablets and laptops running Chrome OS will launch at a later date. For now developers can download test builds.
Google is looking to drastically rethink the consumer operating system.

Apple tablet is delayed

News coming from the desk that Apple’s new tablet might not actually arrive until 2nd half of 2010 because of a necessary design change and the selection of the LG manufactured 9.7” OLED display the cost is just too high. It seems that LG will be making changes to the manufacturing process, as well as adding new equipment to their OLED line, which will reduce the cost of the OLED display that Apple wants to use in their unconfirmed and yet-to-be announced tablet product. The current price of this type is around $500 if purchased in large quantities.
While Apple has been working on a tablet, the release of such a product is still some time off; and when the 10.6” LCD model does arrive, we expect that it will fetch between $800 to $1,000 each when it first hits the streets. While it is possible that the OLED 9.7” model might arrive before the end of 2010, we are starting to think that it is likely that this model will not arrive until early 2011.

The news gives everyone more time to speculate and to save up for it when it finally does hit the streets.

Microsoft launches on-demand email

Microsoft has launched its online services in India.

Starting at $2 (about Rs 100) a month, the service will allow small and medium business and enterprise customers to access Microsoft's e-mail, collaboration, conferencing and productivity capabilities online. According to the company, savings are expected to be between 10 to 50 % on IT costs.

The launch is part of Microsoft's Software Plus Services strategy that aims to provide flexibility and choice of accessing.

Microsoft Business Group president Stephen Elop says in a statement, In today's competitive global market businesses need cost-effective technology that allows flexibility and adds value to their organizations". The services are now can be avail in India.
